Building Climatology (Bachelor)
The energy related renewal of our cities, towns and villages is one of the major undertakings facing engineers in the 21st century. Building climate control is a new professional field that is specially tailored to the sustainable and energy-efficient upgrading of our towns and buildings. Building climate control engineers develop end-to-end energy concepts for new builds and for modernising the existing building stock, assuming responsibility for creatingenvironments that are ecologically sustainable while ensuring the health and well-being of people.

The new BEng course in Building Climate Control brings together the skills and abilities of six different faculties: Architecture, Civil-, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Maths and Building Physics.
The course combines a knowledge of design and construction from the fields of architecture and civil engineering with skills crucial to building services engineering and management. Specific course content such as energy-efficient building, building modernisation, building frontages, building systems technology and renewable energy will broaden students’ knowledge and bring the various topics into context. Students can opt for elective subjects and undertake projects to develop specialisms on an individual basis.
What we expect from you:
- A love of engineering and technology
- A good knowledge of Maths and technical sciences
- An interest in building culture and environmental protection
- Creativity for developing new solutions
The aim of the course is to use practical tuition on a scientific basis to produce engineers who are capable of working independently and on their own responsibility. By bringing together and cross-linking knowledge from a range of specialist disciplines, the buildingclimate control engineer can find comprehensive answers to all issues concerning the development of holistic energy-efficient and indoor-environment concepts for refurbishing and modernising buildings, both existing and new.
With their wide-ranging interdisciplinary training, building climate control engineers can look forward to excellent career prospects in all sectors of the construction and property industries, from public administration through real estate management to engineering consultancy in a wide variety of disciplines.
