Mission statement: | „In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.” |
Purpose and learning objectives: | - To practically apply essential technologies of medical engineering which otherwise stay “hidden” inside devices
- To experience first-hand typical problems of medical measuring, such as artefacts, poor signal-to-noise ratio, inter- and intra-individual variability, and to try out different solutions
- To investigate the use of software which can operate medical devices at very diverse sites
|
Facilities: | Investigative methods and equipment provided by the Medical Device Software Laboratory include: - US computer tomography
- Elektrophysiology (EEG, EKG, EMG, ENG, EOG)
- Spirometry
- Diagnostic and biometric ultrasound (A, B mode)
- Audiometry
- Perimetry, flicker photogrammetry
- Scheiner optometer
|
Research topics: | - Biosignal analysis and signamodelling
- Pattern recognition and classification
- Software Engineering: Agile modelling in a regulated environment
