Accreditation by OTH Regensburg

An internship abroad during a course of study can be spent as part of the compulsory internship semester/s or as an additional voluntary internship. There are a number of formalities that have to be observed.

Time & Duration

The particular degree programme which the student is following will determine when an internship semester can be taken (between semester 3 and 6) and its duration (16 to 22 weeks). Full details for the individual degree programme will be found in the internship documents of the programmes [only available in German] or in the relevant study and examination regulations [only available in German].

Admission

The admission requirements for serving an internship semester can be found in the relevant study and examination regulations [only available in German].

Theory courses

Students should attend the accompanying theory courses either before, or immediately after completing their internship or in the subsequent semester. Full details for the individual degree programme will be found in the internship documents of the programmes [only available in German] or in the relevant study and examination regulations [only available in German].

Host organisation

The company (or research laboratory of a host university) in which an internship semester is to be spent must first be approved by OTH Regensburg and registered with the Referat Prüfungen und Praktikum [only available in German].

Host organisations which have already been approved can be found in the QIS [only available in German]. The consent of the responsible Internship Coordinator must be obtained well in advance for host organisations which have not yet been approved. Any special procedure that is required for obtaining approval will be described in the internship documents of the programmes [only available in German] or the specific faculty information.

Contract

The training contract must be completed by the contract parties and submitted to the Referat Prüfungen und Praktikum [only available in German] by the specified deadline. The training contract is available in different languages.

During the internship

While you are abroad working as an intern, we suggest that you regularly monitor information published by the faculties or OTH Regensburg, so you don’t miss important dates such as re-enrolment, choosing the major field of studies, deadlines for handing in internship reports etc.

At the end of the internship

On completion of the internship abroad, an internship report and internship certificate from the host organisation must be submitted to the Referat Prüfungen und Praktikum [only available in German] by the specified deadline. Further information will be found in the internship documents of the programmes [only available in German] or the specific faculty information.

Contact

Available for questions regarding the accreditation of compulsory internships by OTH Regensburg are the Internship Coordinators or the  Referat Prüfungen und Praktikum [only available in German].

For students considering a voluntary internship, we suggest that you talk to your faculty first to ensure that your stay abroad will fit into your overall study programme. Students are usually able to request a sabbatical [only available in German] for voluntary internship.

The faculties have Internship Coordinators and Departmental International Coordinators whom students can contact if they have any questions.
