Courses in "Intelligence and Analysis Studies"

The following courses address employees who want to work in an intelligence unit in both business and organizations. The module "Intelligence Processes, Methodology and Strategic Analysis" focuses on best practice routines and gives insights in the challenges of conducting a profound intelligence and analysis process. The module "Data Science, Analytics and Tools" focuses on methods and tools for data analytics. It does not train software skills but gives a comprehensive overview of data analytics. The benefit is to gain skills to assess and manage data analytic processes conducted by the relevant experts. It is recommended to visit the course "Intelligence Processes, Methodology and Strategic Analysis" first.

The courses are part of a summerschool which take place within the International Master Security, Intelligence & Strategic Studies.


Module: "Intelligence Processes, Methodology and Strategic Analysis"

Objectives
Participants apply relevant processes such as intelligence and collection cycle, target centric approach and critical information requirements in order to produce strategic intelligence. Within these processes, analytical methods are to be applied and potential failures are identified and predicted.

Module: "Data Science, Analytics and Tools"

Objectives
Participants learn and apply processes and methods of data science, analytics and software tools, e. g. social network analysis, data base research, modelling, big data and statistics.

Content

  • Definition, relevance and structures of Big Data
  • Predictive analysis – a methodology and philosophy
  • Qualitative analysis based on quantitative data and analytics
  • Selection and application of appropriate methods to solve complex analytical problems
